In iran, my village in North West, they used to have racks at 45 degrees with leaves hanging to dry in the sun. Then they would grind them and role them into cigarettes. Every home in the village had a portion of their field planted with tobacco for personal use. It was my first intro to cigarettes when i would steal neighbors tobacco from the racks to run back of the orchards and smoke, haha... at 9 years of age. My friends started this trend. I learned from them.

I add a roll of pure copper mesh in my air still as the wine has sulfites and this will help remove those nasty off flavours.

Great! Fermenting or flue curing is really necessary for hookah tobacco where you don't want the taste of the tobacco itself? You add flavour mixtures. I can buy Virginia leaf's however they are not fermtented nor flue cured. I need to boil them before mixing with flavours however I am unsure if flue curing is necessary (also in terms of ammonia, not sure if it disappears while boiling also)

the first few centiliters of the batch (the head) contains alcohol that comes from the wine and you'd have drunk it anyway, so why is it considered bad after distillation?

Greetings. A quick question for you. Have you had experience smoking the leaves toward the top of the stalk versus those at the bottom? If so, is there any real difference in taste quality? I'm trying to decide if I am going to separate my leaves according to whether they're from the top or bottom of the stalk before fermenting and eventually smoking them. All leaves will be used as pipe tobacco. Thanks for any guidance.

I have the same sort of setup but I use a dimmer switch and set it so it doesn't go above 78°C/172°F. This is an ideal setup if you live in a apartment/flat. Just get a gallon of apple juice, 1lb of sugar (brown is best) and one teaspoon of bread yeast. Ferment it in the bottle with the lid slightly off for 10 to 14 days. Put it into the air still and run it. You have now made a 1L bottle of apple brandy that cost very little to make. Normally comes out at around 35% ABV.

I know this is an old video but why would there be methanol in your wine? Wouldn't the wine maker get rid of the methanol before bottling and selling it so they wouldnt get sued?

Put some humidifiers in your drying room, leaves shoud be leathery and soft on the touch, not crunchy, even the color is not rigth for a very good tobacco, make sure they are humid enough than pile them up and close them in a sealed plastic bag, leave them to ferment for few weeks, when the temperature falls, open, areate them, re-humidify, and seal them again, repeat every time the temperature falls, after couple of years you'll get the best tobacco you've tried.
